at Galbreath Wildlands Preserve

Join us on Monday, October 12 for Blessing of the Acorn at Galbreath Wildlands Preserve

Bernadette Smith is a member of the Manchester/Pt. Arena band of Pomo Indians, and has worked on the preservation of the acorn, a traditional food source of Indigenous people around the United States. Bernadette works specifically with the acorn of the tanoak tree, or chishkale, the Pomo word for tanoak.

Join us as we harvest tanoak acorns, learn about their value, traditions around them, and how to select the best acorns, care for, and prepare them for eating.

Two sessions for the workshop are available on October 12.
